There are even battle mode courses to make sure excitement stays high and competition fun. Classic tracks and new are available for players so racing options can be based on nostalgia or challenge. Critical Evaluation This game is all about fun and competition. Along with the racing element, there are anti-gravity sections, three-lane tracks and off-road options. Older teens who remember playing on Wii will feel nostalgic for that version as well as enjoying the updated format on the Switch. The soundtrack has evolved beyond the old eight-bit sounds with horns and full keyboards, but there is still an echo of those earlier songs in what is playing in the background, giving it both a modern and nostalgic feel. Game play is fast, almost frenetic, keeping excitement levels up. The fun and chaos of the online version helps to keep teens engaged, and there is a wide variety of options both for characters to play as well as tracks to race. It is also approachable to new gamers, as the basics can be learned quickly. With some smart steering, anyone can become a pro in no time.
